The (Almost Unnecessary) Instructions On How To Link Current Tickets To An Old Magic Band

Linking your tickets to the Magic Bands you used on your last trip (or purchased at a Disney store or online) is frighteningly easy.

Embarrassingly easy.

Believe me. I just asked Disney tech support for help that was completely unnecessary.

But I didn’t know that. I fumbled and clicked and scrolled and backtracked, confused as to why I kept getting “error” messages telling me my tickets were already linked. How could they be? I hadn’t linked them. I had only purchased them.

Doh!

As long as you do it right, you don’t have to link them yourself. There is no “second step.” I’m feeling like Grover, right about now. Just a wee bit embarrassed.

Read on, so you aren’t embarrassed, too.

The Embarrassingly Easy Step by Step Instructions

  1. If you don’t already have a “My Disney Experience” account – go here to set one up.
  2. Purchase any tickets (for theme parks, water parks, special events, etc.) on the official Disney website while logged into your account.
  3. Click on the My Disney Experience icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen.
  4. Scroll down to the Magic Bands and cards tab. Click on it.
  5. Scroll down the page and you should see the names of the people in your travel party and any previous Magic Band or cards used on previous trips.
  6. As long as they are still active (and it will say so on the far right of the screen) you are good to go. Any tickets, reservations, etc. will automatically be linked to your cards and Magic Bands through your account. You don’t have to do anything else.

If you should have any problems at all, simply utilize the chat feature for instantaneous help from a Disney tech support person. They are incredibly patient and knowledgeable and won’t make you feel silly for asking a silly question.

Trust me.

I know.
