Best Breakfast Dining In The (Disney) World!

Where to find Mickey Waffles at Walt Disney WorldOr sure, you could scarf down a carton of yogurt or a bagel in your room before you head out to the parks. But you’re on vacation! And Disney World has some of the best breakfast options in the theme park world.

Best Character Breakfast

Some of the best breakfasts on Disney World property can be found in the Disney resorts. Even if you’re not staying at a resort there’s nothing stopping you from eating there! Make your reservation and have breakfast with your favorite pals. (While Mickey will be at Chef Mickey’s and Donald hosts his breakfast at Tusker House, all the other characters listed are most commonly seen at the restaurants listed below. They rotate because, well, they can’t be two places at once!)

Chef Mickey’s (Contemporary Resort) Have the famous Mickey Waffles with the iconic Chef Mickey himself. This buffet also includes Goofy’s Vegetable Lasagna, Minnie’s Breakfast Pizza, omelets, cheese blintzes, fresh fruit, yogurt, pancakes and pastries. Yum!

Tusker House (Animal Kingdom) This is one of our family’s favorite breakfast spots. Get an early seating and you’re in prime location to ride Kilimanjaro Safari as soon as you finish eating. With host Donald Duck you may also see Minnie, Goofy and Daisy. The buffet here is amazing; typical breakfast fare with an African slant. Be sure and try the Jungle Juice!

Cape May Café (Beach Club Resort) If you’re visiting EPCOT or Hollywood Studios Cape May is the perfect place to start your day. Have breakfast with Goofy, Minnie and Donald. Standard breakfast fare and even our gluten free guest had an easy time filling her plate. Afterwards, you can walk off your meal and enter EPCOT at the EPCOT resort “private” entrance.

Crystal Palace (Magic Kingdom) A popular breakfast stop for every hardcore Disney fan. While the food choices are pretty standard the opportunity to enter Magic Kingdom before the crowds (as long as you have an early reservation) is priceless. Stroll down Main Street and take pictures in a crowd-free atmosphere. Then, dine with Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore, Piglet and my son’s favorite, Tigger. Crystal Palace offers some of the best character interaction anywhere on Disney property.

 Best Sit-Down Breakfast

If you want a more leisurely start to your day try any of the following sit-down breakfast options. All of the best are located at the resorts but remember: you don’t have to be a resort guest to eat there.

Boma (Animal Kingdom Lodge) Expect to loosen your belt buckle after the amazing offerings at the Boma Breakfast Buffet. Made to order omelets, pancakes and waffles. An amazing fresh fruit selection. Bread pudding. Frunch juice. This is another of our family’s top breakfast Disney spots. We love anything that is a bit out of the ordinary. Lots of yummy surprises here! You won’t be disappointed.

Grand Floridian Café (Grand Floridian Resort) If you have the time, enjoy a leisurely breakfast in elegant Victorian atmosphere. Best Eggs Benedict and my husband says,a very close second-best cup of coffee anywhere in the Disney World. (For the best? See below.)

Kona Café – (Polynesian Resort) For my husband’s favorite cup of joe it’s our family tradition to eat at Kona Café on our last day. A sad day, to be sure, but fresh fruit, Tonga Toast (a banana stuffed French Toast) and the best coffee at Disney makes for a tasty farewell.

Best Breakfast On The Go

Sometimes you just want to eat and go. There are plenty of options but here are the best.

Starring Rolls Café (Disney’s Hollywood Studios) Stop here for a bagel with cream cheese, assorted pastries and a latte or cappuccino. The line may be long but it’s worth the wait.

Sassagoula Floatworks & Food Factory (Port Orleans French Quarter Resort)  Even if you’re staying at Port Orleans Riverside it’s worth the walk to French Quarter’s food court for some tasty beignets. Add some eggs, fruit and a café au lait and you have a complete quick breakfast.

Sleepy Hollow (Magic Kingdom) Skip the crowded Main Street breakfast options and head left over to Sleepy Hollow. Waffle sandwiches, waffles with strawberries, waffles with Nutella and fresh fruit. Wash it all down with an iced coffee and you’re good to go!
