November 18th is only a week away. It’s a special day for the Disney family and it’s extra special for this Disney-obsessed family. A few years ago we found out it’s also Mickey’s birthday!
My middle son joined our family through adoption. We always celebrate his “Gotcha Day” (the day we “got” him). No presents. No huge fanfare. We just let him choose a family activity that we can all enjoy with him to commemorate his special day. Surprise! One year, he choose going to Disney World and this Disney nut mom couldn’t refuse.
On November 18th, he proudly wore his “I’m Celebrating” button. In fact, we all wore buttons! And as we were heading out for the day, passing through the gift shop, a Cast Member noticed our buttons. She asked what it was that we were celebrating and we explained. Excited for us, she guided us to Mickey’s Birthday Card. It was Mickey’s birthday, too!
My son was so excited to be celebrating his special day with Mickey Mouse. Both boys signed Mickey’s card and then we were off to find Mickey and share the news that it was a special day for us, too!
If you’re in the parks on November 18th make sure you seek out the many birthday cards at Disney resort lobbies. If you happen to meet with the main mouse, be sure and wish him a Happy Birthday!
And if you’re stuck at home like the rest of us this year, you can have a special Mickey snack or, like our family, make some Mickey cupcakes and add a little fun to your meal.
Mark your calendars for November 18th. It’s the perfect time to add a little extra magic to your day!
